PBG Offers a Pre-Upgrade Site Survey for Ericom, VMware, and NetApp Upgrades
Conducting a Site Survey before you upgrade your Ericom, VMware, and NetApp systems can save time and money, and reduce post-implementation problems. Let PBG take the worries out of complex upgrades by evaluating your IT environment prior to any production changes.
Bellmawr, NJ (Vocus/PRWEB ) June 30, 2010 -- Once a hardware or software system is installed, it must be properly maintained to ensure continued effectiveness. Upgrades are often essential to fix problems, implement new functionality, and retain vendor support. For complex systems, the upgrade process should be managed with the same level of care as initial installation.
Recently, PBG was approached by one of our clients – a major university – to upgrade their VMware VSphere system. As part of this effort, we performed a Pre-Upgrade Site Survey. The purpose of the Survey was fourfold:
1. To verify the client’s current configuration – both hardware and software.
2. To determine if all pre-requisite hardware and software updates had been applied.
3. To chart the most efficient – and least disruptive – path to promoting VSphere.
4. To recommend any additional actions the client should consider beyond the planned upgrade.
As a result of conducting the Pre-Upgrade Site Survey, PBG was able to perform the subsequent VSphere upgrade in less time than originally projected, with fewer problems (all of them minor), and with no impact to the client, or the client’s customers.
Importantly, by combining the Survey with the actual upgrade, the client spent less money than originally anticipated for the upgrade only.
To help organizations improve their upgrade performance, PBG is making the Pre-Upgrade Site Survey a standard service offering. If your organization is contemplating a system upgrade – particularly an Ericom, VMware, or NetApp upgrade – please let us help you prepare for upgrade success.
